In the quietness of the day thoughts of my children came as I sat and waited;

As I sit and ponder for awhile
Of memories of life that made me smile
And I give my thanks to Him above
Who filled my life with all this love.

You dear children have given meaning to my life
Through your laughter and tears and …some strife
A richer man I could not be
For the love and happiness you have given me.

As I heard each of you with your first cry
I promised myself I would always try
To walk beside you all the way
And show you love every single day.

Our life is gone in the blink of an eye
From the day you are born to the day you die
But in that time you are given a space
To fulfill your part of the human race.

Some are chosen to do great deeds
While others try to follow from their lead
No matter who we are we will soon find
The world is a better place with those who are kind

A helping hand or the cheerie smile
They help by going, with us, the extra mile
So within my heart I strive to find
A life towards others with love that is kind

And so my dear children I leave this with you
A wish for a life that is wonderful and true
I hope you will be kind and loving to
For that is my legacy I leave with you.
